Tomb-sweeping Day is a traditional Chinese festival and one of the most important sacrificial festivals. Every time during Tomb-sweeping Day, the school organizes tomb-sweeping sacrifices
When does Ching Ming Festival start?
The Ching Ming Festival began about 2,500 years ago in the Zhou Dynasty. The earliest Ching Ming Festival was just a name for a solar term. Every year during the Ching Ming Festival, the weather gradually warms up and the rainfall increases, which is recognized as a good season.
Tomb-sweeping Day is also a festival to commemorate ancestors, which is related to the Cold Food Festival. In the Spring and Autumn Period, Duke Wen of Jin established the Cold Food Festival in order to commemorate the loyal minister Jie Zitui. Because the Cold Food and Qingming Festivals are similar, they became one festival over time.
